About The Position

Under moderate supervision of the department manager, this role is responsible for creating programs for machining parts and tooling, creating set up documents, tool lists, machining instructions, and maintaining all existing programs. The position will also focus on continuous improvements of all programs, assisting operators with first article set-ups, and tool proving. The role promotes and utilizes standard safety practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CNC programming certificate and 2 years of experience or 4 years of experience with CNC programming using Mastercam software
  • Ability to communicate machine problems, quality issues and other concerns or questions to departmental management
  • Strong math skills
  • Must be quality conscious
  • Ability to use and interpret precision measurement equipment
  • Ability to interpret aircraft blueprints
  • Ability to interpret mylars
  • Ability to interpret GD&T
  • Knowledge of CNC tooling, ie end mills, drill bits, reamers, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Strong computer skills
  • Moderate verbal communication skills
  • Moderate written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Prepares operating programs on continuous path and point-to-point numerically controlled machinery
  • Creates set-up documents, tool lists, machining instructions
  • Maintains existing programs
  • Implements continuous improvements of all programs
  • Prepares and checks programs, edits as necessary
  • Instructs machine operators in the use of equipment
  • Assists machinists with machining processes, programs, set-up, edits as needed and creates tooling
  • Works with the Estimating Dept. to quote/ requote new and existing parts
