About The Position

The CNC Programmer role is responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, programming CNC machining centers using Inventor and SolidWorks, and programming CNC plate burning machines using AutoCAD and related software. This role also assists sales in creating quotes, developing efficient programs, optimizing material nesting, establishing tool inventory, participating in part inspection, and maintaining the production schedule for the CNC Machining Center. The position actively involves branch Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

Able to read, modify and create drawings in AutoCAD.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
Clear written and oral communication.
Keen attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a team environment with multiple competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Engineering Technician preferred.
Exposure to AS400 or other ERP systems an asset.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
Experience or exposure to CNC programming.
Experience in ProNest, PrimeCut, Inventor and SolidWorks is considered an asset.
Familiar with HAAS CNC Vertical Machining Centers an asset.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints to understand the specifications for each job.
Program for CNC machining center using Inventor and SolidWorks software.
Program for CNC plate burning machines using AutoCAD and other related software.
Assist sales in the creation of quotes.
Create effective programs that are time and cost efficient.
Plan appropriately to optimize the nest (cut the most possible pieces from a plate).
Establish tool inventory for machining center.
Participate in the inspection process for machined parts.
Establish and maintain production schedule for CNC Machining Center.
Actively involved in branch Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives.
All other duties as assigned.
