About The Position

Greif is seeking a CNC Programmer/Setup Technician to support complex tool room manufacturing operations. This role involves independently programming, setting up, and proving out CNC milling and turning jobs from engineering prints. The technician will develop efficient tool paths using Mastercam, optimize cycle times and tool life, and select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work holding strategies for tight-tolerance machining. Responsibilities also include establishing and refining feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies, troubleshooting machining and program issues in real time, performing first-piece inspection and in-process quality verification, and continuously improving processes related to safety, quality, and machining efficiency. The role requires supporting tool room and production needs with a high level of accountability and ownership.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on CNC programming and setup experience on both milling and turning centers (required)
  • Advanced proficiency in Mastercam (required)
  • Demonstrates ability to machine precision components with tight tolerances (required)
  • Strong blueprint reading skills including GD&T interpretation (required)
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and optimizing CNC programs and setups (required)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Tool room or R&D prototype machining experience
  • Experience with complex geometries, multi-operation parts, or tight-tolerances work.
  • Strong understanding of work holding, fixturing, and process planning

Responsibilities

  • Independently program, set up, and prove out CNC milling and turning jobs from engineering prints.
  • Develop efficient tool paths using Mastercam, including optimization of cycle times and tool life.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and work holding strategies appropriate for tight-tolerance machining.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining, tooling, and program-related issues in real time.
  • Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality verification to ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
  • Continuously improve processes related to safety, quality, and machining efficiency.
  • Support tool room and production needs with a high level of accountability and ownership.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
