The CNC Programmer/Operator I position at the Grand Prairie Facility is a full-time role responsible for independently programming challenging parts and contours using MasterCam software. This role involves proving out and operating CNC machines with self-created programs. The individual will conceptualize and contribute ideas for programming appropriate fixture and mounting devices for effective machining. Responsibilities include editing G-Code programming and performing complete manual G-Code programming at the machine for one-off and on-demand parts. Proficiency with K&N's network for program retrieval and saving is required, along with editing and modifying programs at the machine and saving them to the correct network folders. The role also includes setting up and operating various CNC machine tools (Lathes and Mills), ensuring machines run efficiently, checking parts, and operating multiple machines simultaneously. Adjusting offsets, locations, changing inserts and cutting tools, and making cutter compensation adjustments to maintain part tolerances are key duties. Full inspection of parts to verify tolerances, tearing down setups, returning tooling, and preparing machines for the next setup are also required. This includes setting up fixtures, vises, and loading proper cutting tools. A thorough understanding of speeds, feeds, and surface callouts for machined parts is necessary, with the ability to make adjustments for acceptable parts. The operator is responsible for cleanup around machines and maintaining fluid levels, and communicating with supervision on efficiency improvements. Adherence to all K&N safety procedures and safe operation of machinery is mandatory.
