CNC Programmer Machinist
About The Position
A well-established, busy precision machining company in Tempe, Arizona, is seeking an experienced CNC lathe setup machinist to manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components, including aerospace and defense-related parts. This is not an entry-level CNC operator position; the role is intended for someone with substantial hands-on CNC lathe experience and complete machine setup skills, rather than primarily machine loading, insert changing, and basic wear-offset adjustments. This is a direct-hire, long-term career opportunity with a stable organization. The listed pay is $28–$40 per hour, depending on experience, and the position offers a sign-on bonus with no mandatory overtime. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on CNC lathe machining experience.
- Strong experience performing complete machine setups, not simply operating an established process.
- Demonstrated experience machining tight-tolerance aerospace, defense, or similarly demanding precision components.
- Experience interpreting complex engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Strong understanding of CNC lathe tooling and insert geometry.
- Strong fundamental understanding of CNC turning, machining geometry, tool wear, work-holding, inspection, and process control.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture complex, tight-tolerance components, including aerospace and defense-related parts.
- Perform complete CNC lathe machine setups.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Apply knowledge of CNC turning, machining geometry, tooling and insert geometry, tool wear, work-holding, inspection, and process control.
