About The Position

J. Baur Machining is a family-owned manufacturing company in Mars, PA, with over 40 years of experience in precision machining and contract manufacturing. We employ around 20 people and utilize automated CNC technology with 18 CNC machines in a clean, climate-controlled facility, specializing in Mazak and Multi-Tasking equipment. We are seeking a hybrid CNC Programmer/Set-Up Machinist who will be responsible for programming in the office and setting up machines on the shop floor. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy programming but also want hands-on involvement. Training will be provided for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Mastercam, Mazatrol, and EIA for Vertical and Horizontal Mills, and will primarily program Mazak Equipment (horizontal, lathes, integrexes) and HAAS Verticals. Strong CNC machining experience, including independent setup, editing, tool changes, first article inspection, and running CNC equipment, is essential.

Requirements

  • Experience as a CNC Machinist independently setting up a job from start to finish per customer blueprint on CNC multi-tasking equipment.
  • 5 plus years of experience as a CNC Machine Set-Up Operator.
  • CNC Programming knowledge.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam, Mazatrol, and EIA for Vertical and Horizontal Mills.
  • Experience programming Mazak Equipment (horizontal, lathes, integrexes) and HAAS Verticals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced atmosphere and meet project deadlines.
  • Team Player with a great attitude that can collaborate, train, and troubleshoot with colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduating from a Trade School is an added bonus.
  • Strong experience in CNC machining that includes independently setting up, editing, changing tools, checking your first article inspection, and running CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop processes for completing products from raw material to finished goods, including fixtures, tooling, and raw materials, based on blueprints.
  • Design programs for CNC machine tools and create set-up sheets.
  • Design programs for CMM equipment and provide inspection sheets for job travelers.
  • Audit repeat products to ensure optimal processes and materials are used.
  • Perform job set-up on machines.
  • Set up, edit, and run first article inspections on machines before handing off to an operator.
  • Convey job details to coworkers.
  • Assist in training Machine Tool Set-Up Operators.
  • Troubleshoot issues on machines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oversee multiple machines simultaneously.
