About The Position

The CNC Machining Manager leads CNC machining operations across all shifts, ensuring consistent performance in safety, quality, and production. The role provides direct leadership to CNC Production Supervisors and aligns people, processes, and equipment to meet production demands while supporting the growth of machining capabilities. This is an active, hands-on leadership role with a strong presence on the production floor, supporting supervisors in resolving operational challenges and driving continuous improvement. The position balances daily production needs with long-term operational goals and requires strong CNC machining knowledge and effective leadership. The manager works with the Director of Operations to set departmental priorities, implement operational improvements, and support capacity planning and future growth. The role also collaborates with Maintenance, Programming, Quality, Manufacturing, HR, and Talent Acquisition on production issues, process improvements, staffing, hiring, employee development, and retention. SendCutSend is an on-demand manufacturing company specializing in custom sheet metal and CNC machining. It serves more than 150,000 engineers, fabricators, and businesses across the U.S. and Canada and operates seven facilities in Nevada, Kentucky, Texas, and Pennsylvania. The position works across office and manufacturing environments and requires regular presence on the CNC production floor. It involves proximity to CNC machines, tooling, material handling equipment, moving machinery, metal materials, noise, temperature variation, industrial hazards, and equipment that generates strong electromagnetic fields. Required personal protective equipment must be used in manufacturing areas. The EMF environment may pose a risk to individuals with cardiac pacemakers, ICDs, or other implantable medical devices.

Requirements

At least 8 years of leadership experience in CNC machining, manufacturing, or production operations.
Demonstrated experience leading supervisors or production teams in a manufacturing environment.
Strong technical understanding of CNC machining processes, equipment, tooling, setups, and quality standards.
Experience managing production schedules, labor resources, and operational priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to analyze production metrics, identify operational challenges, and implement effective process improvements.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
Proven ability to coach, develop, and hold team members accountable to performance expectations.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software.
Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing environments for extended periods; stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs during shop floor reviews.
Ability to visually inspect equipment, materials, and processes to assess quality and safety.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to work around noise, moving equipment, temperature variation, and industrial hazards while following safety protocols.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Direct CNC machining operations across all shifts to meet production schedules, on-time delivery targets, safety standards, quality requirements, and departmental performance expectations.
Provide CNC Production Supervisors with technical guidance on machining processes, tooling, setups, equipment performance, and troubleshooting; partner with Programming and Engineering on complex technical issues.
Lead, coach, and develop CNC Production Supervisors through regular feedback, clear performance expectations, accountability, and consistent leadership practices across shifts.
Monitor production performance, machine utilization, labor efficiency, downtime, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
Align staffing, equipment, and production resources with operational demands to maintain efficiency and meet production goals.
Identify production bottlenecks, equipment challenges, and workflow inefficiencies, and implement practical solutions to improve throughput and reduce waste.
Partner with CNC Production Supervisors to establish consistent processes, operating procedures, and communication between shifts.
Maintain a strong production-floor presence, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting complex machining challenges, and supporting supervisors with operational decisions.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Programming, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve production issues and improve CNC machining processes.
Support the development and implementation of training programs to strengthen technical capabilities, employee performance, and team development.
Partner with the Director of Operations to establish departmental priorities, implement operational improvements, and support capacity planning and future growth.
Collaborate with HR and Talent Acquisition to forecast staffing needs, participate in hiring decisions, and support employee development and retention.
Ensure consistent adherence to company safety standards, quality procedures, and operational policies across the CNC department.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
