About The Position

The CNC Principal Machinist - PMO Factory focuses on Swiss Machines. This role involves operating various advanced CNC machines and assisting with set-ups, with a primary function on Swiss-centered machinery. The machinist will follow instructions, read blueprints, and identify machining problems to produce defect-free parts while meeting production rates. A major responsibility includes the set-up and operation of diverse production machinery to create close-tolerance precision medical device parts, emphasizing the verification and validation of new set-ups for production and first piece runs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience operating advanced CNC production equipment. Examples of advanced equipment include Swiss machines with live tooling.
  • Successful completion of the Principal Machinist Assessment.
  • Currently employed as a CONMED CNC Sr Machinist.
  • Ability to produce parts at maximum rates with zero defects.
  • Ability to optimize processes through continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate various advanced CNC machines and assist with set-ups of CNC machines. Primary job function will be the operation of Swiss-centered machinery.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, read basic blueprints or mechanical drawings.
  • Recognize machining or manufacturing problems to produce defect free parts while meeting production rates.
  • Accurately perform measurement tasks utilizing measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Set up advanced CNC machinery such as 4 and 5 axis mills, Swiss machines, Lathes with live-tooling, etc. and operate advanced multi-axis CNC equipment, tools, and accessories for the fabrication and cutting of materials to process component parts.
  • Maintain close tolerance dimensions while producing parts at the rates established for a given operation.
  • Perform verification/validation of new set-up programs for new product or pre-production parts. Perform in-process and first piece inspection.
  • Complete offset adjustments to multi-axis equipment to ensure product conforms to strict tolerance.
  • Provides training and technical training to less experienced employees.
