CNC Operator

Weco ManufacturingHenrietta, NY
$22 - $30

About The Position

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the safe operation and set up of a wide variety of Computerized Numerical Control Machining Centers (CNC) or other production machines using programs and tooling that have been previously used to manufacture a product and is capable of doing this with little supervision. They must work with Management to debug and optimize manufacturing processes for jobs or machines they are responsible for. This role requires a very high level of competency with all types of metal working equipment, both manual and CNC, and the ability to debug machining processes and communicate them for manufacturing. The individual must be able to diagnose process problems, determine their cause, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Awareness of budget and delivery requirements for assigned work is essential, with the ability to report any difficulties that could lead to exceeding costs or missing deadlines. A thorough understanding of the safe operation of metal working equipment, including starting and stopping cycles, interrupting and restarting the machining cycle, and performing offsets, is required. Knowledge of CNC program code, including the ability to document and perform edits to enhance machining processes, is also necessary. The role involves installing machining fixtures and tooling, orienting fixtures and tools to machine coordinate systems, inputting offsets, loading CNC programs, and loading material into fixtures. Producing the "first piece" from setup while observing the machining cycle to prevent damage or injury is a key responsibility. The ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and specifications, including GD&T, is crucial. This includes observing and listening to machine operation to detect malfunctions, performing inspection and gaging operations to maintain quality standards, and recording inspection results. The CNC Machinist will notify supervisors of discrepancies and train other CNC Operators on the safe operation of machines they have set up. Cleaning machines, tooling, and parts, as well as performing daily preventative machine maintenance, are also part of the duties. Other duties as assigned.
