Under the direction of a supervisor, directly or through a leadperson, setup person, or programmer, the CNC Operator operates computerized numerically controlled machines and related equipment to produce bearing components at optimum production and quality levels. Operations may include turning, milling, deburring, buffing, tumbling, and heat-treat striking. The employee works from engineering prints, verbal instructions, and a CRT display, and replaces worn or broken inserts or tools and adjusts or corrects offsets to compensate for tool wear. The operator inspects their own work using and interpreting precision measuring instruments. They maintain equipment in good working order through periodic and proper lubrication, report maintenance requirements promptly, keep the work area and machine clean, and segregate, identify, and transport parts. Other duties include maintaining accurate production records and counts, performing unusual or experimental work, and completing other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor. Basic computer skills are required for data collection as necessary.
