About The Position

The CNC Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to manufacture precision components that meet engineering specifications and quality standards. Depending on the level of operator, this may include setting up and programming these machines. This position plays a vital role in producing high-quality parts while maintaining production efficiency, equipment reliability, and workplace safety. The CNC Machinist works from blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to ensure products meet customer requirements and company expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of CNC machining experience or completion of a technical machining program.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with CNC controls.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
  • Strong understanding of precision measurement techniques and quality inspection procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work while maintaining high levels of quality and productivity.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing precision components.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming CNC machines using G-code or CAM software.
  • Experience machining oilfield or industrial components.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or similar CNC control systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Technical certification in CNC machining or precision manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to manufacture precision components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and technical specifications.
  • Select and install tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets for production runs.
  • Perform machine programming, editing, and adjustments as required to optimize machining operations.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and report equipment problems to supervision or maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and inspection records.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing policies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using established housekeeping practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that increase safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
