About The Position

We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator to set up and operate CNC machines to produce high-quality parts that meet specifications and production requirements. This role performs independent machine setups, tooling changes, program edits, work offsets, and quality inspections while adjusting feeds and speeds to optimize machining performance. The ideal candidate has strong CNC setup and programming experience, can read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment, and is comfortable troubleshooting machining issues with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of CNC setup and operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC programming, including G & M codes, tool geometry, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
  • Strong blueprint reading, measurement, and quality inspection skills.
  • Proficient with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparator and indicators.
  • Strong math, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Forklift experience or ability to become forklift certified.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Willingness to learn, develop new skills, and assist with training other operators.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school certificate or diploma preferred.
  • Haas VPS experience preferred; AutoCAD and SurfCAM experience are a plus.
  • Optical comparator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines independently using setup sheets and work instructions.
  • Review, edit, and create CNC programs as needed.
  • Create and modify programs using Haas VPS.
  • Apply knowledge of G & M codes, tool geometry, speeds, feeds, and tooling.
  • Set tool offsets and establish work origins using tool setters and WIPS.
  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to achieve required tolerances, finishes, and production rates.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Use optical comparators and precision measuring equipment to verify parts and machine setups.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
  • Troubleshoot machining and equipment issues.
  • Identify and report nonconforming materials, tooling issues, or equipment malfunctions.
  • Determine tooling and material requirements while maximizing material yield.
  • Design and fabricate basic fixtures and vacuum plates.
  • Deburr and clean finished parts.
  • Complete production and ERP system transactions accurately.
  • Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and vacuum lifters to move materials.
  • Follow all safety, quality, ISO, housekeeping, and 5S requirements.
  • Work with Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve production issues.
  • Assist with training and supporting other CNC operators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
