About The Position

The CNC Operator sets up and operates CNC machines to produce products according to customer and work-instruction specifications. The role includes preparing machines for production runs, ensuring appropriate tooling and computer programs are installed, monitoring production, and adjusting equipment and programs as needed to maintain product quality and specifications. The operator uses precision measuring instruments and hand tools to inspect finished work pieces, follows lead instructions to prioritize work, and maintains a clean work area and equipment. The role also requires proper use of personal protective equipment, responsible waste management, and support for energy conservation. Other duties may be assigned to meet departmental and company objectives.

Requirements

Strong mechanical skills.
Strong shop math skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers.
Ability to communicate and work well with others.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift 35 pounds on occasion.
Ability to stand for extended periods, including two-hour periods.
Ability to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

Previous CNC machining experience or trade school graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines for production runs according to customer and work-instruction specifications.
Ensure the correct tooling and computer programs are installed for each job.
Adjust machine feed and speed, change tooling, and adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or machines malfunction.
Monitor CNC machines during production and adjust programs as necessary.
Calculate machine speed and feed ratio and the size and position of cuts.
Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify finished work pieces meet specifications.
Prioritize work according to leads' instructions.
Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the work area.
Wear proper personal protective equipment in shop work areas.
Manage waste responsibly, use proper containers, and participate in recycling programs.
Promote energy conservation.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and company objectives.
