About The Position

This is a temporary CNC / Conventional Machine Set-Up Operator position in Davenport, IA, with a duration of 3 months, leading to potential full-time hire. The role involves setting up and operating CNC and conventional machine tools, performing precise setup procedures, and producing pilot workpieces for inspection. The operator will diagnose and correct machine or tooling malfunctions, train other operators, and work from route sheets, drawings, and specifications. This position requires the use of precision measuring instruments and coordination with various departments. Maintaining a clean work area is also essential.

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year in a production environment.
  • Experience in CNC and conventional machine setup/operation.
  • Demonstrated longevity on resume.
  • Knowledge of advanced shop math, formulas, and complicated drawings; equivalent to short-term trades training.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.
  • Required to purchase personal “tools of the trade” as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, operates, and adjusts CNC and conventional machine tools.
  • Performs exacting tolerance setup procedures.
  • Prescribes operational sequences, tooling, and speeds.
  • Produces pilot workpieces for inspection to prove out setups.
  • Diagnoses machine or tooling malfunctions and makes corrective adjustments.
  • Trains operators on machines once setups are finalized.
  • Works from route sheets, part drawings, and specifications.
  • Utilizes precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, scales).
  • Coordinates with cell coordinators, production scheduling, and engineering.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned machines and work areas.
