About The Position

The CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator is responsible for operating CNC machines to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role involves machine setup, monitoring production, inspecting finished parts, and maintaining equipment to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of G-code and machine controls.
  • Strong math and measurement skills.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions, safety procedures, and production documentation in English required.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines such as lathes, mills, routers, or plasma tables.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
  • Load raw materials into machines and ensure proper alignment.
  • Monitor machine operations and make minor adjustments as needed.
  • Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure quality standards.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Change tools, offsets, and machine settings as required.
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventive maintenance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor machine issues.
  • Follow production schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and use proper PPE.
