About The Position

S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear fabrication function. As a CNC Operator MES you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Requirements

  • Proficient in using hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as scales and callipers.
  • Solid understanding of machine controls and programming, with the ability to set up machines for new jobs based on specific requirements.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Capable of working independently and fulfilling assigned material requests on time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share information clearly with various production support teams.
  • Comfortable using basic computer applications to review and respond to internal requests.
  • Competent in basic math, including calculating quantities, weights, and measurements.
  • Has good interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively with team members across departments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Elementary level of computer literacy

Responsibilities

  • Operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate parts according to defined specifications.
  • Set up machines with the correct tools and materials, including adjusting machine configurations and entering specifications into computer-controlled systems when required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents to understand part requirements and ensure accurate production.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning machines and tools, and report any mechanical or electrical issues to supervisors.
  • Use overhead cranes and other material handling equipment to safely move and position materials for machining.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections using measurement tools to confirm material type, quality, and dimensions before starting production.
  • Maintain accurate records of fabrication activities, including job progress and any corrective actions taken.
  • Deburr metal parts using hand or power tools to ensure they are safe to handle and ready for the next stage of processing.
