This position is for a CNC Machine operator of numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic workpieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math. The operator will learn to Offsets machines, when necessary, with help from supervisor. Our 2nd shift runs from 2:30 PM-11:00 PM. This position offers a $2.00 Shift differential on top of the pay.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience and/or trade school.
  • Experience operating CNC lathes and mills in an Aerospace Machine shop setting.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and some inspection tools.
  • Must be eligible to work with export-controlled products and related data without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating the following machines is desirable: Mori Seiki Duraturn 2550, Mori Seiki Duraverticle 5060, Mori Seiki NLX 3000, Mori Seiki SL4, Samsung SL40, Samsung SL2500SY, Samsung SL2000, Haas VF-2 & VF-4
  • Fanuc Controls

Responsibilities

  • Offsets at machine to adjust tool into machining tolerances.
  • Operate Machines with Minimal help from the supervisor.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Identify problems and get supervisor to troubleshoot the possible fixes.
  • Load parts per instructions, counts parts and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and coolant flow.
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machine to change cutting tools or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • May learn to enter commands to offset and adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining.
  • Operates machine and can stop machine when tool or program malfunctions.
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.
  • Performs machine maintenance as required.
  • Communicates with co‑workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
