About The Position

The Machine Shop Technician III performs a wide range of advanced machining tasks requiring a high level of technical skill and precision. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines and standard machine shop equipment to produce components that meet exacting specifications. Technicians are expected to interpret complex engineering drawings and follow detailed work instructions, ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards. This position supports production goals through efficient machining practices, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Previous CNC machining experience required
  • Certified forklift operator with hands-on experience preferred; must be willing to complete company-provided certification if not already held.
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship in all aspects of machining.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation, including work instructions, manuals, blueprints, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting production demands.
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills; self-directed with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Solid understanding of machining tools, equipment, materials, and standard trade practices.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
  • Must be dependable and results-driven, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines and production goals.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changes in workflow, scheduling, and production requirements.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a vocational or technical training program is a plus.
  • experience with 5-axis routers strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CAM software and CNC programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential duties associated with the Machine Shop Technician I and II roles as required.
  • Read, interpret, and apply information from blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate part production.
  • Follow work instructions, procedures, and directives from Supervisors and Production Leads in accordance with company policies.
  • Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on CNC mills, routers, and manual machining equipment.
  • Ensure part quality and dimensional accuracy by applying close attention to detail and verifying tolerances using appropriate measuring instruments.
  • Comply with all Fibreworks Composites safety standards, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Identify and obtain the necessary tools, equipment, and materials to efficiently perform assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free work area to support workplace safety and efficiency.
  • Use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges) accurately to inspect and validate components.
  • Effectively manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Display a professional, respectful, and cooperative attitude in all interactions with team members and leadership.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with company policies; reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Operate a forklift upon successful completion of Fibreworks Composites certification training, in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Execute CNC mill and router setup, operation, and basic maintenance tasks as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Operate standard machine shop tools and equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Apply working knowledge of mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry to support machining and troubleshooting activities.
  • Make on-the-fly CNC code edits at the machine when needed; assist with NC programming when applicable and within scope of training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
