About The Position

The CNC Operator II performs all duties of a Level I CNC Machine Operator without assistance. This role operates a minimum of two types of CNC equipment and assists in training/mentoring of Level I operators. The operator runs multiple machines at or above expected parts-per-hour targets, reads and understands M codes and basic G codes, and independently changes and/or replaces broken or worn tools. They identify functional issues or trends with fixtures and understand how to troubleshoot them. The role involves making corrective actions to out-of-tolerance dimensions in a CMM or control plan without assistance. The CNC Operator II supports inspection processes by interpreting technical drawings and validating measurements using CMM and manual tools. They collaborate with leads and/or engineers to improve setups, reduce scrap, and improve efficiency. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of machining experience, preferably in a high-precision or military environment.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Proficient in operating and programming CNC machines.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment and materials up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of standing for long periods and working in various industrial settings (e.g., machine shops).
  • Ability to withstand loud noise environment.
