About The Position

PennEngineering is seeking a motivated individual to join our Tool Room as a CNC Mill Programmer, Set-up, and Operator. In this role, you will collaborate with teams to perform machining and cutting operations on CNC milling centers. You will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating the machinery, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Tool & Die Makers Certificate or 5 Years (min) Tool Room Experience.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hrs. per day.
  • Do occasional lifting of up to 30 - 40 lbs, from floor to waist.

Responsibilities

  • Programs, sets up, and operates CNC milling center to perform multiple machining and cutting operations.
  • Operates CNC milling center automatically or manually.
  • Performs the job of CNC mill operator in its entirety, as needed.
  • Sets up and operates machine at correct feeds and speeds, following standard operating procedures.
  • Produces good pieces within specified quality control limits as per blueprints, process plans, holding fixtures, location diagrams, etc.
  • Loads work and control tape and trial runs jobs.
  • Manually programs machine.
  • Takes corrective action and repositions as required to produce within specifications based on inspection of parts.
  • Receives direction from foreman or leader.
  • Moves parts away from machine for pickup by material handler.
  • Checks to see that there is sufficient stock to proceed and that stock is correct for parts to be run.
  • Ensures product quality meets and/or exceeds specifications.
  • Participates in operator training programs as a trainee or the trainer.
  • Obtains all necessary tooling called for on layout sheet.
  • Obtains correct drawings and specifications from department office.
  • Removes old set up.
  • Installs new tooling to operate mill center at specified feeds and speeds, and to produce work of quality specifications.
  • Removes finished pieces and installs material, as needed.
  • Makes test run and checks dimensions against drawing specifications.
  • Obtains verification of test results from foreman or leader.
  • Inspects and gauges parts at intervals determined by foreman for that particular job.
  • Detects and reports faulty machine operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies, and other unusual conditions to foreman.
  • Oils and greases machine, replaces coolant, and replaces tooling, as required.
  • Maintains work place area in a neat and orderly condition on a daily basis, and performs a general machine and work area cleanup once a week.
  • Keeps machine free of chips.
  • Makes out time, production, and quality reports, as necessary.
  • Collaborates with operators from other shifts to transmit and exchange information pertinent to work at hand.
  • Observes all safety regulations in all duties performed.
  • Performs all other duties, as required.
