CNC Mill & Lathe Setup Technician
About The Position
At TekPro, we connect skilled makers with leading manufacturers across the Chicagoland area. We’re recruiting for a precision manufacturing facility in Hanover Park, Illinois , where you’ll run and set up CNC machinery to produce tight‑tolerance components in a clean, air‑conditioned shop. A day in the life You clock in, review the day’s work orders, and pull up the program and prints. You set tooling, dial in offsets, and validate your setup. The first article passes inspection—micrometers, calipers, and gauges confirm it’s in spec. Through the shift, you monitor cycle times, make fine machine adjustments, and keep quality rock‑solid while hitting production goals. You wrap by documenting results and suggesting a small tweak that shaves seconds off the next run.
Requirements
- 1+ years in CNC machining or machine operation
- Proficiency reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work 1st or 2nd shift
Nice To Haves
- Experience with tooling, offsets, and setups (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision components
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to plan jobs and verify dimensions
- Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments to maintain accuracy
