The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving CNC machine tools and related manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. This position performs preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnoses mechanical and electrical issues, and responds to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime. The CNC Maintenance Technician works closely with all levels of management, engineering, inspection and production personnel to identify recurring equipment issues, improve machine reliability, and support a safe and productive manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience maintaining CNC machine tools or similar manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment systematically and identify the root cause of failures.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Production, Engineering, and other Maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and handle tools, equipment, and machine components as required.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree, certificate, or formal training in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience maintaining CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or other precision machine tools.
  • Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting servo motors, drives, and motion-control systems.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience with machine tool builders such as Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Mori Seiki, Makino, or similar manufacturers.
  • Experience working in an aerospace or other precision-manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machine tools and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-system problems.
  • Diagnose CNC machine faults using alarms, error codes, schematics, manuals, diagnostic tools, and other technical resources.
  • Troubleshoot machine controls, sensors, switches, motors, drives, servos, and other electrical components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and adjustments, including bearings, belts, couplings, lubrication systems, pumps, and other machine components.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valves, cylinders, regulators, pumps, and associated components.
  • Assist with troubleshooting CNC controls, servo systems, and machine communication issues.
  • Perform machine setup, alignment, leveling, and adjustments as needed to maintain equipment performance and accuracy.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and document work performed in the company's maintenance system.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production-related maintenance needs.
  • Work with machine operators and production personnel to identify equipment problems and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Assist Engineering and Production with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend solutions to improve machine reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Work with outside service providers and equipment manufacturers when specialized repairs or technical support are required.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and other machine-specific safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
