About The Position

At KMT Waterjet, a Shape Technologies Group (SHAPE) company, we’re devoted to a single goal: delivering innovative manufacturing process solutions that propel our customers to success! The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and CNC machining equipment to manufacture precision metal and non-metal components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This position plays a critical role in producing high-quality parts while maintaining safety, efficiency, and accuracy throughout the manufacturing process.

Requirements

  • GED or High School diploma
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous CNC machining, manual machining, manufacturing, technical training, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements and part specifications.
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machines to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for production runs.
  • Adjust machine controls, speeds, feeds, and cutting depths to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Conduct test runs and troubleshoot machining issues to ensure proper machine performance.
  • Replace and install machine components and verify proper operation following maintenance or repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, supervisors, and production personnel to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve processes.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow all quality standards related to our Quality Management System (QMS), ISO requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
