About The Position

Delva Tool & Machine (DTM) is seeking a CNC Machinist for our Cinnaminson, NJ location. The CNC Machinist is responsible for quality parts produced on CNC machines such as, but not limited to, lathes and mills. This position works a schedule of Monday thru Friday from 7:00am - 3:30pm. Our work area is 100% climate controlled. The hiring range for this role is between $20.00 - $50.00 per hour, and applies to Machinist I, II, III, and Lead titles, with final compensation determined by level, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years' experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Operator (for Machinist I)
  • 2-4 years' experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Operator (for Machinist II)
  • 5+ years' experience as a CNC Machinist or CNC Operator (for Machinist III, Lead)
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders, saws.
  • Load and unload parts, materials, and fixtures as instructed.
  • Follow established traveler work instructions to produce conforming products.
  • Perform basic measurements using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure part conformity.
  • Monitor machine operation and report irregularities or malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Deburr, clean, and prepare finished parts for inspection or further processing as required by the traveler and work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company safety policies.
  • Assist higher-level machinists with setups and complex tasks as part of skill development.
  • Assist with setups and operate a variety of CNC machines to produce precision parts.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and work instructions.
  • Adjust machine settings, offsets, and replace tooling to achieve quality and efficiency standards.
  • Perform in-process inspections and document results to maintain compliance with quality standards.
  • Diagnose common machining problems such as tool wear, dimensional drift, surface finish issues.
  • Train and mentor Machinist I employees in safe machine operation and proper techniques.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality staff, and supervisors to troubleshoot and improve processes.
  • Monitor and maintain tools, machines, and measuring equipment, reporting maintenance needs promptly.
  • Lead the setup, adjust programming, and operate complex CNC machines, multi-axis machining centers, or specialized equipment.
  • Help Engineers and CNC programmers optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and meet tight tolerances.
  • Validate CNC programs through first runs and first-article inspections.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of materials, tooling, feeds, and speeds for difficult or exotic materials.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and mentor for Machinist I and II employees, providing training and guidance.
  • Interface with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues and recommend design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Maintain strict adherence to AS9100/ISO standards (or other applicable quality systems) and participate in audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing projects, and 5S activities.
  • Act as a lead machinist as needed, coordinating workflow, assigning tasks, and assisting supervisors in production planning.
