About The Position

Woodward is seeking a CNC Machinist for its 2nd shift, operating on a 4X10 schedule, Monday to Thursday, starting at 3:30pm. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision metal parts. Requirements

  • Skilled in operating multiple CNC or Manual machining equipment such as Lathes, Mills, Swiss, and OD/ID Grinders.
  • Proficient in supporting operations.
  • Identifies gap-to-standard and resolves or escalates them by standard processes/procedures.
  • Analyzes problems, proposes solutions, and implements corrective actions with minimal supervision.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems and components.
  • Ability to use inspection gaging and hand/power tools.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to support workflow and escalate immediate issues.

  • Must be a U.S. Person within the meaning of ITAR and EAR, or eligible to obtain all required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate multiple CNC or Manual (Lathes/Milling/Swiss/Grinding-OD/ID) machines, and other machinery to produce precision metal parts according to specifications.
  • Perform supporting operations such as manual material removal and sub-assembly.
  • Perform 1st piece inspections and may be required to train in these processes.
  • Follow detailed work instructions to maintain production efficiency and accuracy.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints and utilize basic GD&T knowledge.
  • Use various gages to inspect finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Record and maintain data per operating standards (SOP).
  • Apply 5S principles, identify opportunities to improve workstation organization and cleanliness, and ensure compliance with team standards.
  • Assist in implementing new organizational practices as directed.
  • Encourage adherence to safety protocols within the team.
  • Perform complex Set ups and operate numerous CNC or Manual machines.
  • Train others in 1st piece inspection processes.
  • Possess in-depth GD&T knowledge.
  • Champion 5S principles, develop and refine 5S practices, and ensure consistent adherence to standards across the team or department.
  • Collaborate with front line leadership to integrate 5S principles into broader operational processes.
  • Serve as a safety champion by fostering a culture of accountability within the team.
