About The Position

The CNC Machinist will be required to perform tasks related to program editing, set-up, operation, trouble-shooting, and preventive maintenance for CNC machines, custom process machines, and production support equipment. This role involves reading manufacturing prints, machine drawings, and operator’s manuals, adjusting tooling and process parameters, interpreting programs, and interacting with Engineering to solve problems and optimize operations. The machinist will also operate material handling equipment, use a variety of measuring equipment, and perform other miscellaneous tasks. Overtime is required as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 Years of experience in CNC machines
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively
  • Good/Strong/Excellence verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and process specification instructions
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically
  • Team building skills
  • Intermediate level knowledge of CNC software applications and strong understanding of CNC operating systems
  • Good knowledge of related technologies such as CAD-CAM
  • Experience/knowledge of computers and applications
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Fagor, and Seimens control
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CNC Mill, Lathe, and Mill Turn Machining operations.
  • Operate 3 and 5 axis vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and mill turn machines.
  • Perform CNC set ups, including truing up locating surfaces.
  • Vet CNC programs and cutter selection on legacy CNC tooling.
  • Train less skilled Machinists and Operators.
  • Ensure correct fixturing is used and maintained.
  • Program Pre-setters and Shrink-fit equipment and set tool life parameters.
  • Understand macro programming and subroutines tied to main programs.
  • Understand fundamentals of GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Load NC programs, adjust offset tables, maintain and replace cutting tools.
  • Electronically document in-process data to maintain QA and production system requirements.
  • Measure and record QA data, including dimensions and serial numbers.
  • Perform measuring equipment calibration checks.
  • Operate material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, tow motors, etc.
  • Read and understand detailed prints and work instructions.
  • Use indicators, micrometers, and calipers to accurately align workholding.
  • Assemble tools and accurately set tool length, alignment, and runout.
  • Apply knowledge of work offsets and tool offset parameters in each control type.
  • Prove out 1st piece setups on different types of equipment.
  • Use calipers, depth gages, micrometers, and fabricated gaging equipment.
  • Utilize tool setting equipment.
  • Utilize computers, access, and use control and data collection software.
  • Track orders and maintain traceability.
  • Move material to enable the production process to flow efficiently and effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with associates, supervision, engineering, and management.
  • Work in teams for daily production and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in training new recruits.
  • Perform 6S & Housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, efficient work environment.
