About The Position

Sets up and operates CNC machines, such as lathes and mills, to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications, by performing the duties/responsibilities indicated below. This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Experience working with or using one or more of the following tools: Toshiba VTL, Stellite, Weld mounting, lathe, milling machine, drill press, vertical and horizontal boring mills and surface grinders for large part items
  • Must be available to work overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers
  • Perform general machine shop math and calculations
  • Read measuring devices such as scales and calipers
  • Demonstrate skills needed to machine fabricated parts in large sizes
  • Knowledgeable in Stellite and Weld engineering
  • Ability to read, comprehend and understand machine drawings
  • Able to maintain print tolerances down to .001”
  • Safely and competently operate overhead crane
  • Work with minimal assistance
  • Communicate with supervisors and fellow operators
  • Clean and organize work area
  • Follow and comply with all Safety Rules and Procedures
  • Report any near-misses, incidents and possible hazards
  • Maintain and use all issued personal protective equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
