About The Position

Coastal Machine & Supply is an AS9100-certified precision contract manufacturer specializing in large, complex turning and 5-axis milling for the Defense, Space, and Oil & Gas industries. We are hiring machinists at every level for the weekend shift. The schedule is Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM, working 36 hours and getting paid for 40. This is an hourly, non-exempt position eligible for overtime and a 20% shift differential. We focus on long-cycle work, tight tolerances, expensive material, and critical parts. Our machinists have the authority to stop a job on a quality concern at any time, without needing approval, as we prioritize quality over production speed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators).
• Reliable attendance on a night schedule.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined under ITAR.
• Shop math (Machinist I).
• Machining school, certificate, or comparable hands-on experience (Machinist I).
• 3+ years CNC setup and operation (Machinist II).
• 7+ years, with demonstrated setup experience on Mill-Turn or 5-Axis (Senior Machinist).

Nice To Haves

• Depth on one platform family is more important than surface familiarity with all four.
• Mill-Turn and 5-Axis setup experience carries a premium.
• Aerospace, defense, or oil & gas machining background.
• Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment.
• GD&T interpretation per current ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Runs proven programs to a documented setup sheet (Machinist I).
• Loads and unloads machines, adjusts offsets, deburrs, and performs in-process inspection (Machinist I).
• Sets up and runs independently on at least one platform family (Machinist II).
• Works to GD&T, selects and proves tooling, establishes tool and work offsets, makes control-level corrections, and holds tolerance across a full run without support (Machinist II).
• Sets up complex work independently across multiple platform families (Senior Machinist).
• Prepares and supports first articles (Senior Machinist).
• Drives tooling and process decisions at the machine (Senior Machinist).
• Troubleshoots problem jobs others can't (Senior Machinist).
