About The Position

GM Performance Power Units is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Concord, NC. In this mission-critical position, you'll work on high-precision components using the latest CNC technology and advanced machining processes. Based at our state-of-the-art facility, you'll play a key role in producing performance parts that create our high-spec power units in a fast-paced, innovative-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Certificate in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist.
  • 5+ years of practical working experience in the manufacturing / metal-cutting industry.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
  • Recent experience and knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, and other CNC controls.
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office products. (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and other teams.
  • Motivated self-starter.
  • Strong attention to detail and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience with simultaneous 5-axis machining and mill-turn style machines.
  • Advanced understanding of the CNC machining process.
  • Advanced understanding of materials(metals) and cutting tools.
  • Advanced understanding of macro programming.
  • Familiarity with CNC probing routines and usage.
  • Understanding of mathematics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Grob and DMG Mori Machines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC manufacturing equipment to manufacture components to the absolute highest quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate in-process inspection and tool-life records to ensure process reliability and part quality.
  • Work closely with the quality inspection group to make machine adjustments as needed to bring parts into spec.
  • Maintain a meticulously clean work area including machine cleanliness.
  • Interpret technical blueprints and designs to understand the specifications and requirements of a part.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • Measure and examine completed parts to verify conformance to specifications using precision tools like micrometers and calipers.
  • Select, align, and secure workholding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials onto machines.
  • Keep a detailed record of processes, tool usage, and production output.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
