CNC Machinist
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Setup Machinist to join a high-precision manufacturing operation supporting the aerospace, defense, and semiconductor industries. This position will focus on setting up and machining complex, tight-tolerance components in a highly technical, high-mix manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has a strong CNC milling or lathe foundation, can independently perform setups, and is comfortable troubleshooting and making adjustments at the machine. This is a 2nd Shift position, Monday–Thursday, with four 10-hour shifts and Fridays off. Overtime opportunities are available. The pay ranges from $30–$50/hr+, highly depending on experience and technical capabilities, with additional flexibility for highly experienced machinists.
Requirements
- CNC milling setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC milling.
- Strong blueprint reading and dimensional inspection skills.
- Experience machining complex, tight-tolerance components.
- Working knowledge of G-code and CNC program adjustments.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Matsuura, Yasda, Makino, Feeler, Fanuc, or similar equipment is a plus.
- Mastercam experience is a plus.
- Aerospace, defense, semiconductor, medical, or other high-precision machining experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete setups on CNC milling machines for complex precision components.
- Set tooling, fixtures, workholding, offsets, and work coordinates.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Prove out jobs and make necessary adjustments at the machine.
- Troubleshoot tooling, workholding, dimensional, and machining issues.
- Make G-code, tool, and offset adjustments as necessary.
- Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure parts meet customer and engineering requirements.
- Work closely with CNC programmers, engineering, and quality to improve machining processes.
- Support both new and established jobs in a high-mix precision manufacturing environment.
