About The Position

This role involves operating CNC mills and lathes to machine parts according to specifications. Responsibilities include light duty lifting, using hoists for part installation, operating machinery with precision, and maintaining a clean work area. The position requires the ability to use precision measuring equipment and computer systems for instructions and specifications. Experience with lathes or milling is preferred, and proficiency with micrometers, calipers, t-gauges, sanders, and bandsaws is necessary. Specific skills include lathe operations such as holding parts, tooling, setup, cutting speeds and feeds, 4-jaw chuck usage, precision machining to .0001 tolerance, and cutting threads. Milling operations include using mills, attachments, cutters, setting RPM and feed rates, milling flat surfaces, squaring parts, drilling, tapping, boring, and using a dividing or indexing head.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand or walk an entire shift (approx. 8-10 hours).
  • Ability to use handheld tools such as Hammers, Screwdrivers, Disc Sanders, Wrenches, Tape Measures, Micrometers, Calipers, Etc.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and t-gauges.
  • Proficiency in using bench and disc sanders.
  • Proficiency in using horizontal and vertical bandsaws.
  • Ability to sufficiently operate computer systems to access instructions/specs and produce a quality product.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Lathe or Milling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform light duty lifting and use a hoist to install vises, jigs, fixtures, and heavy work pieces onto the mill or lathe.
  • Operate precision measuring equipment with both hands to accurately machine parts.
  • Operate mill or lathe controls with both hands to remove material from parts according to specifications and accuracy requirements.
  • Sufficiently operate computer systems to access instructions/specs and produce a quality product.
  • Check and fill lubricating fluid as necessary.
  • Clean and maintain mill, lathe, and work area as needed and at the end of each shift.
  • Perform lathe operations including holding parts, tooling/sharpening, setup, cutting speeds and feeds, 4-jaw chuck, precision machining (.0001), and cutting threads.
  • Perform milling operations including use of mill, attachments, cutters and holders, cutter RPM and feed rates, milling flat surfaces, squaring parts, milling grooves, drilling, tapping, boring, and using a dividing or indexing head, setting up angles.
