Job Purpose: The Machinist is responsible for completely and independently setting up and operating various types of machines such as CNC mills and turning centers in order to produce parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • General Math
  • One year experience in setup and operation of CNC machines.
  • One year experience in setup and operation of conventional machines.
  • One year experience in programming

  • Accurately record and track all work performed on a daily basis
  • Deburr parts as necessary
  • Set and verify tools using a tool presetter
  • Enter required tool offsets into a machine program based on presetter information
  • Enter compensation values into program based on inspection results on a part
  • Perform coolant checks and additions
  • Understand and participate in Total Preventive maintenance
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and their application to CNC machining
  • Knowledge of and ability to use GD & T
  • Knowledge of and ability to design fixtures
  • Root cause analysis
  • Interpret CMM results

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run four axis horizontal milling machines, three axis vertical milling machine, turning center, Servo bed mill and Bandsaw.
  • Program CNC mills and turning center.
  • Work with inspectors and supervisor to evaluate machined parts and determine any adjustments needed for the program, tools or fixturing.
  • Adheres to all M-B America policies, operating procedures and work instructions at all times.
