Requirements

• Grade 12 diploma
• Demonstrated competency as Grinding Set Up Operator or equivalent machining background.
• General Machinist Trade certificate / Canada Red Seal Journeyperson Machinist
• Candidate must be able to pass Canadian Controlled Goods Assessment and criminal background check and be compliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a minimum of one CNC grinding production process performing single, multi-function and multi-sequencing operations on a universal grinding machine, which may include chucking and shoe work holding methods
• Set up and operate a minimum of one CNC lathe production process (pertinent only to Large Cell)
• Follow standard work instructions and work specifications
• Perform problem solving and troubleshoot to resolve production/process issues to meet required standards.
• Responsible for quality and quantity of work produced by process.
• Monitor production process according to maintenance schedule and perform routine maintenance in timely manner.
• Required to perform inspection of own work using precision measuring equipment as provided or directed to assess quality of work.
• Follow and accurately record data as directed or required in routers, IMS and any other production tracking systems.
• Required to train other operators as needed.
• May be required to work in other departments or occasionally to set up a machine for others to operate.
• Ability to read and interpret production prints.
• Requires adequate computer skills to access production procedures to perform the required work.
• Responsible for excellent housekeeping and maintaining 5S in all areas.
