About The Position

The CNC Machinist will set-up and operate CNC and Manual Turning and Milling Machine Tools. Machine products from various materials to blue print, sketches, work instructions and work procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in the set-up and operation of CNC and Manual Machine Tools.
  • Experience with the methods and devices to lift heavy irregularly shaped objects.
  • Advanced shop mathematics
  • Able to read complex blue prints
  • An understanding of the order of operations and good manufacturing practices is essential.
  • Understands set up operation & program of G & M codes.
  • The CNC Machinist must be able to correctly use and read basic measuring tools such as micrometers, Vernier calipers and indicators.
  • Ability to control the machine tool to hold specified tolerances.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization
  • Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance is important.
  • Basic computer skills ( i.e. data entry, editing, searching.)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Be able to lift heavy weight, carry at least 50 lbs and move, pull or push materials of this magnitude.
  • Work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Periodically exposed to hazards of a serious nature requiring care in the use of machinery as well as the use of personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade School Diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with little assistance in planning, layout, set-up and operation of CNC and Manual Machine tools.
  • Proof read and edit CNC programs as required.
  • Understands some set up operation & program of G&M codes.
  • Responsible for machining and inspecting product to insure it is within specifications.
  • Perform some machining operations, including but not limited to Milling, Turning, Facing, Drilling, Reaming, Threading, Tapping, Deburring and assembly of product.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Fully responsible for the quality of their own work.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Must be a team player and participate in efforts to achieve department and company goals.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
