CNC Machinists are skilled in setup, programming, and operation of CNC machine tools and the development of fixture placement and tooling processes. They possess the skills of a setup technician, operation, and programmer. They may specialize in the use of any type or multiple types of CNC machine tools. They will study printing, selection of material, establish plans for machining operations, understand machine programming languages, and have skill using computer-aided manufacturing software. This position requires an individual to read and understand blueprints, sketches, and samples to accurately machine parts to customer specifications. Some light duty lifting required and using a hoist to install vises, jigs, fixtures, and heavy work pieces onto the mill or lathe for machining. Use precision measuring equipment with both hands to accurately machine parts. Operating the controls of the mill or lathe with both hands to remove material from parts in conjunction with the specs and accuracy required for specific job. Check lubricating fluid and fill as necessary. Clean mill and lathe work area as needed and at the end of each shift.
