About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Shop Supervisor in the daily operations of the machine shop. Key responsibilities include job setup, training, gage calibration, CNC program revision, and managing the flow of product through the machine shop. This role is for the NIGHT SHIFT ONLY.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
  • Meet all qualifications for Machinist - CNC 3.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in metal removal and metal working on a variety of machines.
  • Work-related computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point and E-mail.
  • Qualified to drive a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Provide CNC operators with gages, programs, drawings, inspection sheets, protectors, setup material, and inserts for the next job scheduled on a machine.
  • Obtain information from the VAM I-Key.
  • Collaborate with other machinists to reduce setup times, improve quality, increase production, and properly maintain machines.
  • Set up all gages that the Facility is currently licensed to machine.
  • Check product molds or contour tracing when inspection personnel are not promptly available.
  • Assist machinists in the daily performance and problem-solving of their jobs.
  • Write CNC programs for parts that are build-to-print.
  • Train machinists in proper procedures for editing CNC programs.
  • Assume Manufacturing Supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor – Machine Shop.
  • Verify and approve employee hours worked in the timekeeping system.
  • Direct activities from the Daily Manufacturing Schedule.
  • Be flexible and willing to shift priorities, work overtime, and assist in areas of the facility as directed by Supervision.
  • Ensure all Manufacturing stress relief, forklift, phosphate, weekly maintenance, and crane log books are maintained.
  • Ensure all Manufacturing 5S Standards are maintained.
  • Participate with a Continuous Improvement Team at minimum, once per year.
  • Ensure all Employees are following all applicable HS&E policies and procedures.
  • Successfully complete all training specified related to CNC 4 job level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
