  • Minimum of five (5) years of CNC machining experience in a tool room, tooling, die shop, aerospace, forging, or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of CNC setup and programming experience.
  • Experience machining tight-tolerance components.
  • Advanced CNC mill and lathe setup and operation skills.
  • Advanced CNC programming and program editing capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, tooling drawings, and CAD-generated prints.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance interpretation.
  • Advanced knowledge of machining practices, tooling selection, cutting speeds, feeds, and workholding methods.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, bore gauges, thread gauges, and surface plates.
  • Strong shop mathematics skills including geometry, trigonometry, and precision calculations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and identify process improvements.
  • Computer proficiency sufficient to load, edit, and manage CNC programs and production documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Tool and Die Maker certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with forging dies, tooling fabrication, and fixture development preferred.
  • Experience using Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar CAM software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and program CNC mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment used to manufacture tooling and production support components.
  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software and G-code.
  • Manufacture precision tooling components, dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and prototype parts from raw stock.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, CAD-generated prints, and specifications.
  • Select proper tooling, cutting parameters, machine speeds, feeds, and workholding methods for each application.
  • Perform tooling repairs, modifications, rework, and preventative maintenance to maximize tool life and performance.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality departments to develop tooling solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring instruments.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
  • Assist in the development of new tooling, fixtures, and process improvements supporting forging and machining operations.
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections of tooling and dies as required.
  • Operate multiple machines when appropriate to support department productivity goals.
  • Maintain accurate records related to tooling modifications, repairs, and manufacturing documentation.
