About The Position

The CNC Machinist/Setup role will perform set ups and operate various CNC mills, lathes and manual machines to support a production-paced environment. This role requires a high school diploma or GED and experience with CNC mill and lathe setup. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices, understanding of machining properties of various metals, and knowledge of proper application and operation of CNC equipment. Strong math, problem-solving, and computer skills are essential, along with the ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Proficiency with hand measuring tools and inspection equipment is also required. The position involves working in a production-paced environment, requiring the ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must possess experience with CNC mill and lathe setup
  • Thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices
  • Understanding of machining properties of various metals
  • Knowledge of proper application and operation of CNC equipment
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to change tools, adjust heights and tool compensations
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with hand measuring tools and inspection equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.
  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.
  • Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Brother, Haas, and Mazak controls
  • Experience writing or editing machine programs

Responsibilities

  • Set-up CNC lathes, mills, manual machines and/or inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production paced environment.
  • Maintain, and update setup procedures for all critical processes.
  • Work from blueprints, job routings and tooling instructions to hold close tolerances.
  • Use computer skills to transfer programs to a variety of CNC machines.
  • Inspect parts to print including both dimensional and visual requirements.
  • Complete all required documentation for the job including part measurements and shop floor paperwork.
  • Train and mentor less experienced machinists, especially on machine setup.
  • Run more than one machine where cycle time permits.
  • Performs other duties as required.
