About The Position

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a CNC Machinist (Rotor Cell Team Operator Trainee) for their 2nd shift at the Elyria, OH location. This role involves learning to perform the duties of a certified operator in the Rotor Cell team. The Elyria facility has a long history of excellence in pumping technology, dating back over a century. Requirements

  • Wire EDM or CNC Grinder experience required.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Basic math skills to make necessary calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and trigonometry).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions.
  • Ability to develop programs from manufacturing outlines.
  • Working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a US Person due to ITAR regulations.
  • Satisfactory background check.
  • May be required to participate in a random drug test pool.

Responsibilities

  • Process rotors through various machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team-oriented cell.
  • Maintain cell inventory.
  • Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
  • Make and verify necessary corrections to program, set up, tooling, and machine settings with assistance.
  • Use various gauges as required.
  • Provide a finish in accordance with manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements, including removal of burrs and edge breaks.
  • Saw material as necessary.
  • Clean and move parts as necessary.
  • Pass an annual eye exam.
  • Responsible for product verification and process control, including using necessary measuring devices.
  • Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes.
  • Rotate to different workstations within the cell.
  • Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.
  • Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
  • Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including operator inspection records, job routers, NCR’s, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
  • Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement.
  • Work with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Utilize computer to access various databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
