About The Position

Job Position Summary: Responsible to set up and run parts and be able to inspect their work and if needed make adjustments to produce a quality part.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Tech School preferred
  • 8+ yrs Experience operating a CNC Machine
  • 2+ yrs Experience in Aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of various metals, alloys, and other materials to optimize proper speeds and feeds.
  • Skilled in performing precision work on parts that present complex configurations and close tolerance between interrelated surfaces
  • Mechanical Aptitude

  • Time Management Skills
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators.
  • Ability to do basic set ups on 3, 4, and 5 Axis Machines
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and company operation sheets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
  • Ability to use the Machine Control to set tools and enter offsets into Machine Control.
  • Skilled in using various machine attachments
  • Ability to follow set up instructions including setting up fixtures, vices, and rotaries.
  • Ability to do complex Troubleshooting on complex machines.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work with Engineering on tool prove outs on new jobs.
  • Ability to work a wide range of all types of machines.
  • Ability to train other machinist within 180 days.
  • Ability to work well with other employees.
  • Ability to Identifies areas for improvement and think strategically to enhance efficiency within 180 days.
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to safety regulation and standard. Follow Safety culture and wear PPE when required.
  • Operates multiple complex CNC Milling Machines of the same function.
  • Perform precision work on parts with complex configurations and close tolerance between interrelated surfaces.
  • Follows Ops sheets and written or verbal instructions for product specifications.
  • Operate within AS9100/ISO9001 requirements to include proper documentation, revision control, traceability, and lot control.
  • Observes overall operation and performs regular daily maintenance on equipment and work area.
  • Follows and does setup instructions and applies knowledge of procedures to acquire first piece inspections.
  • Verifies and visually inspects work and dimensions per operations sheet to specification using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and preset gages.
  • Fills out production paperwork and inspection procedures as required.
  • Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Maintains tools, gages, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Maintains specifications by observing tooling; taking measurements; detecting malfunction.
  • Inspects and visualize the finished part and critical surfaces, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Maintains specifications by trouble shooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools.
  • Works with Engineering on Tool prove outs on new jobs.
  • Adjusts controls to set specified speeds, and feed rate on new jobs.
  • Troubleshoots complex machines and works directly with Programming and inspection to adjust CNC programs, as required.
  • Identifies areas for improvement in the production processes and implements strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Provides effective (OJT on the job) training to new and existing employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs.
