CNC Machinist III - 2nd Shift
About The Position
The CNC Machinist III is required to secure workpieces onto holding fixtures to meet quality standards within established timelines. This role contributes to a positive working culture, builds strong relationships, and lives out the values of integrity, collaboration, and accountability. The CNC Machinist III performs essential machining operations, interprets blueprints and related technical data, and troubleshoots/edits G-code format programming. They set up machines per print specifications and operate CNC machinery, including drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and threading. This position also involves selecting and installing proper tooling, mounting, aligning, and securing workpieces on holding fixtures, and maintaining and changing work holding equipment. Ensuring inspections are completed (first piece, in-process, and last piece) in a timely manner is crucial, along with troubleshooting and resolving issues in coordination with leads and quality departments. The role also includes safely operating a forklift and maintaining a clean and orderly machine shop, while complying with all company policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements. The CNC Machinist III supports the company's vision and mission and exemplifies core values daily, maintaining regular and predictable attendance. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Five to seven years related experience in a machining environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
- Prioritizes and maintains the Milling Prove Out Dispatch to ensure that work is completed within the appropriate time frame and quality requirements.
- Trains or arranges training of new and current employees to ensure policies, procedures and work instructions are understood and followed.
- Focuses on continuous improvement in the areas of machining methods and processes. Recommends changes when appropriate.
- Confers with CNC Machinist Lead and employees from other departments to confirm status of work and timelines.
- Assists the CNC Machinist Lead, and Machine Shop Manager in developing and maintaining policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Performs all essential machining operations; interprets blueprints and related technical data; and troubleshoots/edits G-code format programming.
- Sets up machines per print specifications and operates CNC machinery, including drilling, milling, reaming, boring and threading.
- Selects and installs proper tooling; mounts, aligns and secures work pieces on holding fixtures; and maintains and changes work holding equipment.
- Ensures inspections are completed, including first piece, in-process, and last piece inspections, on a timely manner. Confirms with CNC Machinist Lead, Machine Shop Manager and Quality department to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Safely operates a forklift.
- Ensures machine shop is clean and orderly.
- Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA and AWAIR requirements.
- Supports JEM’s vision and mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
