About The Position

Sole Hire is recruiting on behalf of an established international pump manufacturer for an experienced Machinist II to join a small, hands-on machine shop in Hamilton, New Jersey. This is an immediate, full-time, direct-hire opening in a clean, temperature-controlled facility. The machinist will work alongside an experienced supervisor and team to produce precision components used in pump manufacturing.

This is a setup machinist position, not an operator-only role. The successful candidate will set up and operate CNC and/or manual lathes and mills, with opportunities to expand skills across both machine types. The shift is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Compensation is $26.00–$36.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Certified apprenticeship plus 1 year of setup experience, or 2 or more years of machining setup/operating experience.
• Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual lathes or mills.
• Ability to perform machine setups with minimal supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Ability to adjust tooling and work-piece offsets to maintain accuracy.
• Strong machining fundamentals, mechanical aptitude, and attention to quality.
• Basic computer and math skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with both lathes and mills; experience with one machine type may be sufficient, with training available on the other.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual lathes and mills.
• Edit machine programs and make necessary tooling and offset adjustments.
• Machine precision components to engineering specifications.
• Inspect completed parts for accuracy and quality.
• Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Assist with fixtures, tooling, and process improvements.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Maintain safety, quality, and 5S standards.
