About The Position

Through this Apprenticeship you will learn manufacturing skills, get working knowledge and experience on a variety of CNC machines and controls. The apprentice shall receive on the job training as well as related supplemental instruction with our partners at Lower Columbia College to become a qualified journey-level Machinist.

Requirements

  • Age: Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Applicant shall be a high school graduate or equivalent and provide proof of educational attainment through such means as diploma, transcripts, or official GED or High School Equivalency test results.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the occupation with or without reasonable accommodation and without endangering the safety or health of co-workers.

  • Properly uses basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometer, indicators, etc.)

  • Follows instructions and demonstrates strong attention to detail
  • Communicates well verbally and in writing
  • Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.

Responsibilities

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and informs lead person of discrepancies.
  • Thoroughly inspects first part run
  • Meets job standard times with minimal supervision
  • Recognizes production problems and informs supervisor
  • Understanding of basic machine language (G and M codes)
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools
  • Reads and interprets manufacturing / Engineering drawings
  • Performs miscellaneous duties in the machine shop as directed
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of equipment and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
