About The Position

The CNC Machining Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling production to ensure efficient, timely, and budget-compliant manufacturing of goods that meet quality standards. This role involves directly supervising and coordinating the activities of production machine operators, managing daily production schedules, and ensuring proper inventory management. The supervisor will oversee the day-to-day workflow, ensure operators are working on correct jobs, handle employee discipline and terminations, monitor department performance, and ensure job reviews and training plans are completed. Additionally, the supervisor will oversee 6S activities, ensure safety procedures are followed, and act as a liaison between departments to improve function and communication.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the production process to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet customer needs.
  • Ensure appropriate production rates to reduce delivery delays.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and sales departments to identify and resolve quality concerns.
  • Identify bottlenecks or delays in production and ensure necessary labor, materials, and resources are available.
  • Use production planning and scheduling to limit material shortages.
  • Ensure production machinery complies with professional and safety standards.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner.
  • Resolve employee, customer, or contractor issues.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to exchange relevant information.
  • Prepare staff schedules and determine work assignments, including timeline completions for projects.
  • Act as a liaison between departments or other groups to improve function, performance, or communication.
  • Review applicable organizational policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and relevance, communicating them, and updating as necessary.
  • Ensure Corrective Action Reports (CARs) are submitted on time with proper resolutions.
  • Direct continuous improvement activities and promote that mindset.
  • Continuously seek improvements in tooling and processes.
  • Enforce safety and health regulations.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Review and correct employee attendance and hours worked daily.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
  • Determine standards, budgets, production goals, and rates based on company policies, equipment and labor availability, and workloads.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Coordinate setting up and adjusting machines and equipment.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as hirings, evaluations, or promotions.
  • Implement corrective actions to address organizational or departmental issues.
  • Establish departmental responsibilities and coordinate functions.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments including procurement, distribution, and management.
  • Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, and document poor performance.
  • Monitor and review the performance of staff.
  • Implement and review standard operating procedures and ensure all procedures are being followed.
  • Implement and enforce quality control to detect and correct problems.
  • Act as liaison between organization and management.
