About The Position

Department 129 has an opening for a First and Third Shift CNC Machining operator. This job will consist of setting up and running various CNC machine center jobs throughout the machining department. Candidates must demonstrate during the trial period, the ability to perform the above listed responsibilities while producing quality parts, to print, at the routed rate and in a safe manner while maintaining accuracy of counts, and part numbers. The progress of any candidates selected for this posting shall be evaluated during the trial period to assure that the job requirements are being met.

Requirements

• Must understand and be able to read and utilize machined part prints.
• Must have a working mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to use hand tools and grinders.
• Must have basic math skills: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversion between decimals & fractions.
• All CNC Machine Level C essential qualifications met and 2-3 years or demonstration.
• Must be able to pass Level B Mill test (Written and demonstration).

Nice To Haves

• Experience with and ability to use overhead power cranes.
• Ability to operate forklift, hand truck, material handling equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

• Setting up and running various CNC machine center jobs throughout the machining department.
• Performing all mill setups with minimal help.
• Training others in the department on all mills.
• Reading and understanding programs.
• Using all measurement equipment in the department.
• Performing tool touch off and offset adjustments on all mills.
• Making judgment of tool life and application.
• Knowing what to do when a machine stops unexpectedly.
• Making judgment of undesirable machined surface finish and what to do to correct.
• Adjusting speeds & feeds.
• Performing basic troubleshooting.
• Setting up and running parts with minimal scrap.
• Running multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.
• Maintaining an average efficiency % => the Department average.
• Following written and verbal instructions.
• Lifting 40 pounds with manual dexterity.
• Operating overhead power cranes.
• Operating forklift, hand truck, and material handling equipment.
