About The Position

Amentum is seeking a CNC Machine Repair Supervisor in Durham, NC. This position will supervise a team of 5-14 employees supporting technical operations at the client’s facility. The scope of service includes maintaining, developing, executing, and continuously improving preventative and predictive maintenance activities. The Supervisor is responsible for technical support, direction, safety training, audits, and quality control in a fast-paced industrial production environment. The Supervisor will also act as a technical expert in installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and documenting automated equipment, including Machine Tools, Automated and CNC Machines with PLC and distribute I/O control systems, robots, and robotic control systems. They must be fluent working with various instrumentation and associated equipment, and work with voltages from control (12-24V) through medium voltage motor controls (480 volts, 3 phase). This position provides instructions, mentors, and trains less skilled technicians, and must be an effective communicator. The Machine Tool Supervisor will lead repairs, overhauls, and construction projects with minimal supervision, identify and correct operational or safety-related issues, perform root cause evaluations, and identify and document cost savings. Responsibilities include prioritizing work, ensuring on-time completion, documentation, scheduling training, implementing safety rules, and reporting to management and the client.

Requirements

  • Ten years of experience in a technical role related to industrial Production Maintenance and/or industrial Facilities Maintenance or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of supervisory experience in industrial Production Maintenance and/or industrial Facilities Maintenance.
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites with emphasis on the ability to navigate and formulate within Excel and Access.
  • Experience in a supervisory or subcontract management capacity within a technical industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a leadership position demonstrates the ability to analyze Facilities Maintenance related problems (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Cranes and Hoists, etc.); then recognize and determine solutions (engineered or otherwise) for resolution.
  • Experience creating Power Point presentation and giving presentation in front of large audiences.
  • Experience with the development and training of a multi-skilled technical workforce.
  • Experience in creating metrics and data mining for driving performance results.
  • Experience utilizing Continuous Improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 4 M’s, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Must pass and maintain STS Certification within one year of employment.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the client, Amentum management and Team members.
  • Ability to work from aerial lifts and scissors lift from height up to 30ft. and above.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree, 5 years’ experience in a Supervisory role, or equivalent trade school credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and/or manages the entry of correct documentation and scheduled maintenance via CMMS (Maximo).
  • Manages reactive/corrective maintenance as it is reported and distributes to available technicians.
  • Audits work performance for safety actions and quality of work, and provide coaching as needed.
  • Maintains effective performance of individual employees and the worksite team.
  • Review’s time and downtime reporting to ensure 99.9% accuracy.
  • Compiles, maintains, and presents various reports to Amentum management and client teams.
  • Participation and Document Cost savings and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Supervise a team of 5 -14 employees supporting technical operations.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical support, direction, safety training, audits and quality control.
  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and document electrical/electronic, mechanical and controls needs of automated equipment.
  • Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot Machine Tools, Automated and CNC Machines with PLC and distribute I/O control systems.
  • Work with robots and robotic control systems.
  • Work with instrumentation such as thermocouples; RTDs and pressure, flow, position, and level transducers; and associated equipment and techniques.
  • Provide instructions and mentor and train less skilled technicians.
  • Lead small to large repairs, overhauls, and construction projects with minimal supervision.
  • Identify troubleshoot and correct any operational or safety-related issues.
  • Perform independent equipment root cause evaluations.
  • Identify and document cost savings.
  • Prioritize work based on the needs of the client.
  • Ensure on-time completion of all work, as well as all documentation involved.
  • Provide and / or schedule needed training and cross-training for multi-functional employees.
  • Implement all safety rules and guidelines for all Amentum employees.
  • Responsible for scheduling, planning, documentation, maintaining performance and reporting with Amentum management team and client.
