About The Position

Amentum is seeking a CNC Machine Repair Supervisor in Durham, NC. This position will supervise a team of 5-14 employees supporting technical operations at the client’s facility. The scope of service includes maintaining, developing, executing, and continuously improving preventative and predictive maintenance activities. The Supervisor is responsible for technical support, direction, safety training, audits, and quality control in a fast-paced industrial production environment. This Supervisor will also perform as a technical expert in installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and documenting the electrical/electronic, mechanical, and controls needs of automated equipment. The role involves maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting Machine Tools, Automated and CNC Machines with PLC and distributed I/O control systems, as well as robots and robotic control systems. The position requires fluency with instrumentation and working with various voltage levels. This position provides instructions, mentors, and trains less skilled technicians, and must be an effective communicator. The Machine Tool Supervisor will lead repairs, overhauls, and construction projects with minimal supervision, identify and troubleshoot operational or safety issues, perform root cause evaluations, and identify and document cost savings. The Supervisor is responsible for prioritizing work, ensuring on-time completion, documentation, scheduling training, and implementing safety rules. They are also responsible for scheduling, planning, documentation, performance maintenance, and reporting with the Amentum management team and client.

Requirements

Ten years of experience in a technical role related to industrial Production Maintenance and/or industrial Facilities Maintenance or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Five years of supervisory experience in industrial Production Maintenance and/or industrial Facilities Maintenance.
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites with emphasis on the ability to navigate and formulate within Excel and Access.
Experience in a supervisory or subcontract management capacity within a technical industrial or manufacturing environment.
Experience in a leadership position demonstrates the ability to analyze Facilities Maintenance related problems (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Cranes and Hoists, etc.); then recognize and determine solutions (engineered or otherwise) for resolution.
Experience creating Power Point presentation and giving presentation in front of large audiences.
Experience with the development and training of a multi-skilled technical workforce.
Experience in creating metrics and data mining for driving performance results.
Experience utilizing Continuous Improvement disciplines such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 4 M’s, etc.
Must be an effective communicator with team, site management, vendors, and customers.
Ability to communicate effectively with the client, Amentum management and Team members.
Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Responsibilities

Monitors and/or manages the entry of correct documentation and scheduled maintenance via CMMS (Maximo).
Manages reactive/corrective maintenance as it is reported and distributes to available technicians.
Audits work performance for safety actions and quality of work, and provide coaching as needed.
Maintains effective performance of individual employees and the worksite team.
Reviews time and downtime reporting to ensure 99.9% accuracy.
Compiles, maintains, and presents various reports to Amentum management and client teams.
Participation and Document Cost savings and Root Cause Analysis.
Supervise a team of 5-14 employees supporting technical operations.
Maintain, develop, execute, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
Provide technical support, direction, safety training, audits, and quality control.
Perform as the technical expert with respect to installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and documenting the electrical/electronic, mechanical and controls needs of automated equipment.
Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot Machine Tools, Automated and CNC Machines with PLC and distribute I/O control systems.
Work with robots and robotic control systems.
Work with instrumentation such as thermocouples; RTDs and pressure, flow, position, and level transducers; and associated equipment and techniques.
Work with voltage from control (12-24V) through medium voltage motor controls 480 volts, 3 phase.
Provide instructions and mentors and trains less skilled technicians as required.
Lead small to large repairs, overhauls, and construction projects with minimal supervision.
Identify troubleshoot and correct any operational or safety-related issues.
Perform independent equipment root cause evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.
Identify and document cost savings.
Prioritize work based on the needs of the client and ensure on-time completion of all work, as well as all documentation involved.
Provide and / or schedule needed training and cross-training for multi-functional employees.
Implement all safety rules and guidelines for all Amentum employees.
Responsible for scheduling, planning, documentation, maintaining performance and reporting with Amentum management team and client.
