About The Position

Allegion is seeking a CNC Machine Operator to join their team. This role involves operating advanced CNC functions to produce metal parts and components according to design specifications. The operator will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machinery, reading blueprints, troubleshooting issues, and performing quality checks. The position also requires adherence to safety protocols, collaboration with team members, and maintaining a clean workspace. Flexibility to work overtime and cross-train in other areas is also expected.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
1+ year of CNC machining experience
Familiarity with machining techniques, tools, and equipment
Basic computer literacy, including data entry, basic knowledge of ERP systems, and ability to use barcode scanners
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to use machining equipment, hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and testing equipment effectively
Ability to produce parts and products to meet quality standards
Identifying issues and communicating to leader solutions
Following safety protocols and maintaining hazard awareness
Collaborating effectively with all employees
Ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements
Ability to handle parts and tools with precision
Perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands
Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift
Ability to lift up to 35 Lbs
Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes

Forklift operation certification (specific to AD Systems roles)

Responsibilities

Set up and operate advanced CNC functions following detailed instructions and established procedures on CNC equipment to cut, punch, form, drill, pulse, spin, mill and stamp, to produce metal parts and components per design and drawing specifications required for subassemblies or finished products.
Read and interpret basic blueprints, diagrams, or work instructions to machine products.
Independently set up, calibrate, and operate CNC machinery.
Perform advanced troubleshooting and minor repairs.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimize efficiency.
May use additional tools (e.g. drills, presses, soldering equipment, etc.) with proper setup and use.
Assist in machine changeovers and tooling setups.
Machine parts for subassemblies or moderately complex components as part of a larger product.
Machine intricate or precision components requiring advanced skills or techniques.
Diagnose and resolve machining issues, including equipment malfunctions or non-conforming parts, using established procedures.
Track and document production metrics, such as completed units or defects.
Support Lean Manufacturing practices, such as identifying and eliminating waste in the machining process.
Inspect products for defects and functionality to quality standards.
Conduct routine quality checks using measurement tools (e.g., rulers, tape measures, calipers, micrometers) to verify product quality, functionality, and ensure parts meet specifications.
Perform advanced quality assurance checks, such as using gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), or other specialized tools.
Identify and segregate defective parts for review.
Document and report non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Adhere to safety protocols and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Perform basic equipment checks (e.g., ensuring tools are operational).
Maintain awareness and report to leaders potential safety hazards.
Work closely with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control personnel to address challenges and improve processes.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing to report issues and provide updates.
Provide informal guidance or mentoring to less experienced team members, including demonstrating proper machining processes and techniques.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Store tools and equipment properly.
Work overtime as needed to meet production goals.
Crosstrain in other areas and adjust to new processes or technologies.
