About The Position

J. Baur Machining is a family-owned manufacturing company with about 20 employees, located in Mars, PA, and has been a leader in precision machining and contract manufacturing for over 40 years. They utilize automated CNC technology with 18 CNC machines in a clean, climate-controlled facility, specializing in Mazak Multi-Tasking equipment.

They are looking for a mid-level CNC Machine Operator who understands machining basics like blueprint reading and can operate basic hand and power tools. The company is willing to train ambitious, self-starters who want to learn the machining trade. This is also a good opportunity for college/trade school students pursuing a machining trade certificate. The role involves operating advanced CNC equipment such as Mazak Multi-Tasking Equipment, Mazak Horizontals, and HAAS Verticals.

Requirements

• Understand machining basics such as blueprint reading.
• Ability to operate basic hand and power tools.
• Know or be willing to learn how to read and interpret blueprints and have a strong understanding of dimensions and tolerances.
• Ability to use and operate hand or power tools and finishing tools.
• Knowledge of math.
• Mechanical aptitude and meticulous.
• Team Player with a great attitude that can work well with others and be able to take correction.
• Must be able to pass a drug and background check.

• College/trade school student in the process of earning their machining trade certificate.

Responsibilities

• Take instruction from the CNC Set-Up machinists for running your part.
• Operate manual and CNC machine tools that include loading and unloading material to and from the machine tool work holding.
• Observe material cutting processes.
• Perform tool life management and tool compensation.
• Detect and report defective material, product, and equipment at machine tool.
• Complete parts finishing operation of the product to ensure it conforms to specifications per blueprint.
• Complete machine tool routine maintenance.
• Trouble shooting on machines in this fast-paced environment.
• Complete parts finishing operation to ensure the parts conform to specifications per blueprint.
• Perform machine tool routine maintenance.
