About The Position

Reliable Equipment in Warminster is hiring a full-time CNC Lathe (mill turn) and Swiss lathe Programmer. The programmer designs, programs, and maintains lathe machining processes and programs, including 2-axis and multi-axis live-tooling lathes with subspindles and bar or gantry loaders. The role works with production management and engineering to establish efficient manufacturing processes, improve existing processes, and support successful operations on the manufacturing floor. It requires knowledge of modern manufacturing principles and material cutting properties, especially for steel and aluminum, as well as the ability to work in both digital and practical settings with management and machine setup operators. The programmer establishes, designs, maintains, and improves machining procedures for existing and new products. This includes workholding design, operator instructions, and CAM programming, primarily using Autodesk PartMaker. Working with the Senior Programmer, the role improves CNC programs to reduce cost and machining time while meeting production schedules. The programmer also supports reliable storage and retrieval of approved programs, availability of required tooling, smooth production runs, and operator and machinist development. The role coordinates project schedules and programming workflow with the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager based on manufacturing needs, new product design, and machine utilization.

Requirements

High school vocational education focused on manufacturing, trade school, or related technological education; a degree in manufacturing engineering is preferred.
7 or more years of mill-turn lathe machining experience.
5 or more years of programming experience with 2-axis and multi-axis lathes.
5 or more years of proficiently setting up and running 2-axis and multi-axis lathes.
Strong communication skills.
Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Ability to program in NC code and a CAM package; PartMaker is preferred.
Strong understanding of manufacturing design and workholding.
Thorough understanding of machine tooling and utilization.
Basic knowledge of DNC and NC program databases.
Strong work ethic; personable and respectful; persistent and diligent; attentive to detail; able to handle multiple projects; and capable of motivating and leading others.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Successfully pass a background check, including criminal and drug testing, if offered the position.

Nice To Haves

Degree in manufacturing engineering.
Proficiency with PartMaker.

Responsibilities

Establish, design, maintain, and improve machining and work procedures for existing and new products using 2-axis lathes, live-tooling lathes, and other metalworking machines and equipment.
Design workholding such as custom lathe jaws, collets, and ejectors, prepare readable operator instructions, and program in a CAM environment.
Work with the Senior Programmer to design and improve CNC programs, reduce costs and machining time, and meet manufacturing schedules and demand.
Maintain program storage and cataloging so programs remain uncorrupted and operators can find the latest approved and proven programs.
Work with cutting-tool storage systems to ensure required tooling is available.
Ensure programs and processes support smooth, efficient production runs, collaborating with quality, production, and engineering departments to improve production success and throughput.
Guide and support lathe department operators and machinists on the shop floor, sharing programming and tooling knowledge to help them solve problems independently.
Coordinate project schedules and programming workflow with the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager according to manufacturing demands, new product design, and machine utilization.
